Birmingham Boiler Installation

The Brief

A family home in Birmingham had been running on an ageing back-boiler for over 15 years. The homeowners had noticed rising gas bills, inconsistent hot water and an increasing number of minor faults during winter. They wanted a modern high-efficiency combi with a long warranty, a cleaner installation, and smart-thermostat control so they could manage heating from their phones.

What We Did

Our work over the day included:

• Removed the old system: Isolated gas and water, safely removed the old back-boiler and associated pipework, and took the unit away for disposal.
• Prepared the installation site: Checked flue routing and gas supply for the new combi location, and adjusted pipework to match modern 22 mm specifications.
• Installed a Worcester Bosch combi: Modern A-rated condensing unit fitted on a tidy bracket with brand-new isolation valves and a magnetic filter in-line to protect the boiler.
• Full system flush: Power-flushed the existing radiators to remove sludge and debris, restoring flow and improving heating response in every room.
• Smart thermostat fitted: Added a Hive thermostat so the homeowners can control heating and hot water from their phone or Alexa.
• Commissioned and handed over: Pressure-tested, gas-tightness tested and commissioned to manufacturer spec. Walked the homeowners through the controls in person and registered the warranty on their behalf.

The Result

A complete heating and hot water upgrade finished in a single day, backed by a 12-year parts and labour warranty. The homeowners have immediate app control of their heating, lower gas bills from the A-rated combi, and a Gas Safety Certificate on file.

Job Duration: One day, including survey, removal, installation, flush, commissioning and handover.
